Asics vows to support young athletes in India
Japanese sports brand Asics has launched a campaign and pledged to support young athletes in the country by providing them the performance gear and necessary support to compete at the highest level.
The sports major will work towards strengthening its focus in the sport of wrestling and provide young athletes with apparel and footwear along with other performance gear.
The announcement was made at the Asics India Connaught Place store in the presence of ace wrestler and Asics brand ambassador Bajrang Punia.
Commenting on the initiative, Bajrang Punia in a statement said: “India is consistently producing top wrestlers with representation at global platforms and therefore, an even better time for wrestling to prosper as a mainstream sport. Knowing I have the power of the Asics brand behind my endeavour is a huge boost to see my vision for wrestling in India taking shape.”
Rajat Khurana, managing director Asics India added: “At Asics, we are committed to support sports and enable young athletes of today become the Bajrangs’ of tomorrow. We want to scale new heights and create more visibility for sports and athletics that can help young individuals achieve their sporting ambitions.”
Asics entered the Indian market in 2015 and currently has over 55 stores across the country. It also sells on leading e-commerce platforms like Flipkart, Myntra, and Amazon, among others.
