Asics links with Vivienne Westwood

Japanese sports firm Asics and British designer Vivienne Westwood have teamed up to create an exclusive capsule collection of footwear styles for the Asics and Asics Tiger brands.

The companies shared the news on Tuesday, saying that the capsule collection of limited-edition styles will launch throughout the year, with the first two styles hitting stores and online in April.

The collaboration is likely to prove popular with consumers as it will merge Vivienne Westwood’s luxury and design credentials with Asics’ sporty aesthetic. This combination has fuelled many collaborations in recent years, with Nike leading the way and attracting deals with Louis Vuitton, Balmain, Off-White, Comme des Garçons and Supreme.

Last week, Adidas unveiled a highly-anticipated collaboration with designer Ji Won Choi during London Fashion Week which is set to become a hit with shoppers.

Asics and Vivienne Westwood said their collaboration underlines their shared long history of design and uniqueness, with quality, craftsmanship and innovation at their core.

The limited-edition capsule collection will be available exclusively from Vivienne Westwood and Asics stores worldwide and at Viviennewestwood.com and Asics.com from April 2019.
