Asian trade show The HUB changes dates

Published
Jan 22, 2016

The HUB, Asia’s premium invite-only urban focused streetwear and denim fashion trade show, just changed its spring show dates to April 9-11, 2016, to coincide with Shanghai Fashion Week.

The HUB Shanghai 6th Edition will still take place at Shanghai’s Central Studios, but the dates were pushed back a few weeks from the original March dates in order to synch up with the other Fashion Week activities in Shanghai.

The HUB takes place spring and fall. It is organized by the Hong Kong-based partnership of the same name, and run by co-founders and branding experts Richard Hobbs and Peter Caplowe.

Moving the HUB show dates to take place along with Shanghai Fashion Week is the second step in Hobbs’ and Caplowe’s efforts to continue the show’s legacy in China. The last HUB in October 2015 moved cities, from Hong Kong to Shanghai, as changing politics repositioned Shanghai as the new fashion center for the country. The move saw the show downsize and feature 36 brands, mainly hailing from Australia, Europe and Asia.

Co-founder Hobbs shared some insight about the impetus behind the Shanghai Fashion Week focus after the last show wrapped.

Speaking about Shanghai Fashion Week, he points out “the atmosphere, the venues, the type of people. It’s where the action is now, and it’s where the government [has] decided China’s fashion center will be. We are staying here for the foreseeable future.”

The show is the prominent international streetwear show in China. Changing the show’s dates to synch up with Shanghai Fashion Week make perfect sense in that context.
