Ashish Gupta has created a capsule collection for the home which marks the first time he has created homeware and the first time he has shared his poetry. The collection came to be when the UK multi-brand luxury fashion boutique Matches’ fashion and buying director Natalie Kingham asked Gupta to create a collection after admiring the interior design of his own home, Elle reported.

Matches has launched six items on its online store. The capsule collection features a “Let me steal your heart” blanket, “Everything is going to be ok” blanket, vintage bandana quilt, “Kisses- love- summer” blanket, “The sky was blue” blanket, and “Rainbow stripe” blanket. The blankets mix Gupta’s poetry in bold, black lettering and brightly coloured backgrounds for an eclectic aesthetic that draws on Gupta’s Indian heritage.

The collection was created using recycled vintage and end-of-stock material “that is usually dumped in landfills,” Gupta told Elle. Each item took between 8-10 weeks to produce and the embroidery work was done by a group of women artisans in Kolkata.

“I feel like it ties in well with my background in fashion,” said Gupta about the collection. “Because for my collections too, everything is hand embroidered. There are no short cuts.” Gupta runs his eponymous brand Ashish and is known for his brightly coloured and experimental designs.
