Ashima Leena presents timeless femininity at India Couture Week
Ashima Leena presented her latest women’s couture collection 'Nazm-e-Mahal' on Thursday at India Couture Week and celebrated classic Desi femininity and traditional craft techniques with an array of rich-hued sarees.
Combining delicate hand embroidery with jewel tones handloom textiles, Ashima Leena’s latest couture offering was an ode to the maharanis of the Mughal era. Bright red and gold bridal sarees and champagne lehengas provided classic colour combinations and emerald greens, royal purples, and deep magentas added vibrancy.
Mixed patterns, heavy embellishment, and opulent accessories tied together the designer’s poetic aesthetic. The fashion film showed a group of regal women carrying out all of the traditional festive preparations in a cloud of incense smoke and sea of petals.
Jewellery, statement pieces with bright gemstones, was provided by Archana Aggarwal Timeless Jewellery, the official jewellery partner for the fashion week. Hair and makeup was kept classic with dark kajal for the eyes and hair worn in loose curls or tied in a low bun with fresh flowers for decoration.
This season is India Couture Week’s second digital edition and has brought together 19 brands through the organisation of the Fashion Design Council of India. The fashion week runs online until August 29.
