As Covid-19 cases rise in Lucknow, Modish Fashion & Lifestyle Exhibition cancels Wedding Special

Multi-brand business-to-customer shopping fair Modish Fashion & Lifestyle Exhibition has cancelled its upcoming ‘Wedding Special’ event from April 17 to 18 in Lucknow as events face an uncertain future with India’s second wave of coronavirus.
Modish Fashion & Lifestyle Exhibition was scheduled to bring together 70 fashion and wedding brands with an estimated visitor total of 2,000 at the Hotel Clarks Avadh in Lucknow, according to its 10Times events page. However, the quarterly event has had to postpone this edition and has not yet announced any new dates as the situation remains uncertain, it announced on Facebook.
“Due to Covid we have postponed the event,” events organiser Modish posted on Facebook on Monday. The event is one of the first to cancel amid the new wave of cases and other shopping fairs are expected to follow suit.
Covid-19 cases are increasing across India at a very fast pace and hospitals in locations including Raipur, Surat, and Mumbai have reported hospitals facing overwhelm, according to a new report by The Guardian.
As local lockdowns return to Maharashtra and night curfews to Delhi, the fashion events industry is bracing itself for a repeat of last year when shopping fairs were banned for months and then only allowed to restart with strict social distancing measures in place.
