As a new market develops for products designed to counter the spread of Covid-19, Arvind has collaborated with a Swiss business which specialises in manufacturing chemical coating for textiles with anti-viral properties, ET Bureau reported. Through this partnership, Arvind has created its anti-coronavirus textile which it will first launch through its Arvind Intellifabrix brand.

“This is something that is quite the need of the hour,” Arvind Limited’s executive director Kulin Lalbhai told the Economic Times. “We don’t know how it shapes up in the long-term, but in the short-term we do believe that there is a natural requirement for this in the market.”

In the future, Arvind plans to use its new textile to produce apparel and masks for some of the brands it markets including Flying Machine and Arrow. Arvind expects the new textile to become an integral part of its business and foresees that 10% of menswear sales from Arvind Intellifrabrix will be driven by the textile. This would amount to sales worth Rs 1,000 crore ($135.4 million), Lalbhai told the Economic Times.
