Supermodel turned Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal hit the ramp for veteran designer Rohit Bal in a black bandhgala from Bal’s Cockerel Motif collection to close the opening night of the India Couture Week (ICW) 2017.

The bandhgala, also often referred to as the prince coat or Jodhpuri suit, is a regular jacket with front button closing and high collar, reminiscent of Indian royalty and princely dressers.

Rohit Bal kickstarted the fashion gala with an offsite show from the revamped Bikaner House organised by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) with his all new patented cockerel motif collection.

The couture pieces, mostly woven into gold and silver threads, then took a colourful turn with outfits in colours like green, maroon and blue. The Swarovski crystals added shine to the opulent range, which was about Mughal era dressing.

Even though Rohit Bal’s favourite showstopper Arjun Rampal stole the limelight at the show looking dapper and delightfully fashionable others who made heads turn at the show were FDCI President Sunil Sethi, who proudly wore a white outfit with the cockerel motif and designer Raghavendra Rathore.

"I was ecstatic. I always thought that it would be difficult to walk on the ramp. But I didn't need to do much. I just wore Rohit's beautiful clothes. I am so glad to be part of this historic opening show of ICW," Sethi said after the show.

Earlier in the day, Anamika Khanna showcased her Luxury 2017 Happily Ever After collection.
