With this partnership, APCO’s sellers will be able to promote and sell their handloom products through Amazon in India and international markets.

Amazon India will train the handloom weavers from the state and handhold them to list and sell their products online.

Commenting on the partnership, IT and Industries minister for Andhra Pradesh Mekapati Goutham Reddy in a statement said, “The agreement would benefit the APCO immensely. It would help in creating an international market for handloom products. Around 104 types of handloom products would be marketed by Amazon.

“The products were certified by the APCO and recognised by the government of Andhra Pradesh. The major benefits of this agreement are that the APCO will be charged one of the lowest commissions 8 percent in the e-commerce space in comparison to 15 percent that Amazon charges its other sellers,” he added.

Amazon has been partnering with various states through its Kala-Haat initiative to strengthen its seller base in the country. The company has on-boarded over 2400 weavers, co-operatives, artisans and government bodies to sell online over the last three years.
