Anushka Sharma to launch clothing brand with Suditi Industries
Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma has formed a joint venture with Suditi industries to launch her own clothing brand under the company SAA & Suditi Retail Pvt Limited. The brand is expected to hit the markets during the festive season in October.
The product line for Anushka’s brand will include denims, jackets, dresses and tees. Suditi also manufactures and holds distribution rights for cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s apparel brand YouWeCan (YWC).
“Suditi Industries has approved the Joint Venture proposal with Project Anushka Sharma Lifestyles, a company promoted by celebrity actress Anushka Sharma and her family members to promote the sales business activity of fashion garments and clothing apparels particularly in the women's segment”, Pawan Agarwal, chairman of Suditi Industries said in a statement.
Suditi plans to adopt a strategy similar to the YWC brand for Anushka’s clothing line and will partner with large format and online stores to take the brand across the country. It is also planning to open exclusive stores for the brand next year.
“The details on brand and logo will be unveiled by Anushka in September-end and our products will be available in the market from the first week of October,” Agarwal, told the Economic Times, adding that the equal joint venture with the actor involves an investment of about $10 million over next five years. “We have partnered with national and some regional large format stores and online stores,” he said.
Anushka Sharma’s beau Virat Kohli who already has a brand Wrogn recently signed a similar agreement to launch his athleisure brand with sportswear giant Puma.
Indian celebrities are following in the footsteps of International celebrities and have started to launch their own fashion labels in India.
Indian celebrities like Hrithik Roshan, Shahid Kapoor, Sachin Tendulkar, Shradha Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Kriti Sanon all have their own brands in the country.
