Anju Modi showcases opulent, sustainable traditional wear with Lenzing at FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week

On day two of Lakme Fashion Week in partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India, Anju Modi presented a classic take on Indian femininity on the runway in collaboration with Lenzing’s sustainable textile brand Tencel.

This season, Anju Modi used Tencel’s sustainable cellulose fibre textiles to render rich, classic traditional wear in an eco-friendly way. The collection had a colour palette of deep jewel tones mixed with classic black and neutral tones. Gold accents and glittering details mixed with velvet blouses, thick shawls, and subtly iridescent sarees. 
 
The Tencel textiles made from fibres including wood chips and wood pulp were used to create classic Anju Modi looks. The designer is known for her regal and empowered feminine aesthetic as well as her promotion of heritage Indian crafts. 

The show concluded as actress Sanjana Sanghi walked the runway as Modi’s showstopper wearing a black velvet, cropped jacket embellished with gold detailing and paired with a deep red bralet. Loose balloon trousers and a purple shawl added a bohemian touch to this striking ensemble. 
 
Lakme Fashion Week in partnership with the FDCI runs from October 12 to 16 at Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Centre. The fashion week’s sponsors include Nexa and the event also features a Designer Stockroom business-to-customer sale and a number of design contests.
