Anjali Lama is one of the new faces of Calvin Klein’s latest regional campaign, “My Statement. #MyCalvins”. Lama joins nine other unique and talented women from Asia including the Chinese photographer Tong Meng and the Japanese film maker Shiori Ito. The campaign asks each woman to describe what balance means to them. Lama said it was about being and loving yourself.

Lama told The Hindu that she had always dreamed of doing a Calvin Klein campaign but never thought that dream would come true. “There were women from 10 countries in the campaign and I was one of them,” said Lama.

Calvin Klein’s new Asia-specific advert shows both its investment in the region and its commitment to a diverse image. Lama is seen by many as an LGBTQ role model in India and so the campaign is expected to garner support from the community, a community which is increasingly gaining visibility in the Indian fashion industry.

Lama recently walked the runway at Lakmé Fashion Week in Mumbai for a number of designers including Raghavendra Rathore, Shantanu & Nikhil, and Anita Dongre and even closed the show for Esse clothing. Lama has gained fame in India and her native Nepal and her Facebook page has over 18,700 followers.
