Anita Dongre sets up shop in Dubai with new flagship
Luxury clothing brand Anita Dongre will open a flagship store in Dubai to house its full selection of ethnic and fusion wear. The 1,600 square foot space will open in Dubai Mall, home to luxury brands from around the world.
After recently opening a new store in Mumbai’s Kala Ghoda district, Anita Dongre is setting up shop in Dubai, Vogue India reported. The store will be the brand’s second international address after its 2019 opening in New York, US and will cater to the significant Indian diaspora in Dubai.
“The RTW line is aimed at everybody as I see Dubai as a melting pot of various cultures,” brand founder Anita Dongre told Vogue India. “Our newly launched range of vegan accessories will be showcased too in-store. We are also including a special line for Ramadan, dedicated to the Middle Eastern woman. Our focus is on taking time and patiently listening to and understanding our consumers in Dubai. We do have our sights on the UAE overall as a region to expand into.”
The store will house the brand’s occasion wear and ready-to-wear collections, including its new line of kaftans, for which Dongre recently shot a campaign in Dubai. The store features hand-painted panels by a Pichhwai artist in Rajasthan and is designed to evoke the rich heritage of Dongre’s home state.
“We are excited that we’re opening at a time so close to Ramadan,” said Dongre. “It’s very important for me if I’m entering the Middle Eastern market, to understand the Middle Eastern woman and what she wants. It was very important for me to create a special line just for her which includes sweeping kaftans and glamorous evening wear.”
