Anita Dongre is scheduled to close day one of Lakmé Fashion Week with her nature inspired spring/summer 2018 collection, 'Songs of Summer'.

Dongre, known for her use of handicrafts and handloom textiles, has taken the theme of a “magical summer wedding” in nature for her upcoming spring/summer 2018 collection. The collection will feature handwoven silks and cottons made in Benares with floral patterns and floaty shapes.

Both traditional and modern western silhouettes will grace the runway with jumpsuits, wrap tops, jackets and crop tops mixing with lehengas and draped sarees. The collection will feature hand embroidery, Zardosi, and Gottapatti embellishments and bridal wear will be a strong focus of the collection.

The brand described their upcoming collection with the following: “In the hush of a summer garden, the bride steps onto an aisle of verdant nature, tall beautiful trees swaying their branches to her rhythm. Flowers, butterflies and birds sing words of deep ethereal love. Fireflies light up her path towards a bright new future.”

Dongre, scheduled to close day one of Mumbai’s fashion week, is a regular feature at the event. After a busy 2017, that included opening her first store in New York and working to promote sustainable textiles, the designer is starting 2018 with an equally packed schedule.
