Anita Dongre holds trunk show in Chicago

Anita Dongre held a trunk show pop-up for her bridal wear in Chicago, US, on March 4. The designer brought her traditional wear to the city for an event at Raaz Couture.

Dongre brought a collection of menswear and womenswear wedding attire to the Indian designer boutique. The event was Dongre’s first pop-up in the American city and was a chance for its residents to purchase from her bridal couture line as the spring wedding season begins. 

Dongre has also been named as BW Businessworld’s “Most Influential Woman of India” on International Women’s Day which took place on March 8. Dongre was especially praised for her work to preserve and promote traditional Indian craftsmanship and her adoption of a charoti village 150km from Mumbai, where she trains the women residents in skills for her business, ranging from pattern cutting to creating accessories. Dongre also works with a number of NGOs with her brand Grassroots.

Anita Dongre launched her eponymous brand in 1995, which was then called And Designs India Ltd, with her brother and sister. After opening her first boutique in Mumbai in 1999, the brand later changed its name to House of Anita Dongre in 2015. Dongre has gone on to open two stores in New York and now has 126 flagship stores and 415 multi-brand lifestyle formats with 515 points of sale.
