Anita Dongre has launched a special-edition collection of 24 white wedding gowns named “One World” that is available exclusively from her New York flagship store.
Inspired by New York’s cultural diversity, Anita Dongre has created a special line of wedding dresses to cater to brides of multicultural weddings. Dongre is known for her Indian traditional bridal wear and this collection sees her mix this expertise with modern, western wedding aesthetics.
“New York is a hub of diversity,” said Dongre in a press release. “Multicultural marriages, embracing all customs, are on the rise; a marriage today might be an amalgamation of a white wedding as well as a traditional Indian wedding. On the insistence of one such elegant bride, we stepped into the beautiful world of designing white gowns. And what a joy it has been to work with pristine whites. It’s a different world from the Indian reds and pinks, and enjoying the creativity and the space both provide is exhilarating. So, here we are, in the city of dreams, just in time for New York Bridal Week with a limited edition collection of 24 bespoke bridal gowns”.
Each gown in the collection uses Indian design motifs reimagined in white textiles and detailing. Fabrics used include tulle, lace, and sheer textiles and gowns are adorned with bows, sheer panels, and beading. The collection also includes several cocktail gowns designed for the evening reception. Weddings gowns in pastel colours also feature, designed for a day wedding. The collection is available at Anita Dongre’s West Broadway store in New York.
