Anita Dongre closes India, New York stores due to coronavirus concern

India's traditional, fusion, and bridal wear designer Anita Dongre has closed all of her Indian and international flagship stores in response to the coronavirus crisis.

“As concerns around Covid-19 continue to grow, our stores will remain closed from tomorrow until further notice,” the brand announced on Facebook on March 17.

“While you may not be able to come visit us, our store managers will still be available to call to help fulfil your urgent orders. You can also reach out to us on our website, our digital platforms, or write to is on WhatsApp for any assistance.”

The brand had just released its spring/summer 2020 collection ‘A Summer in Santorini’ in-store and online with a selection of lehengas, gowns, mini dresses, and cocktail dresses. The collection, which was photographed in Santorini itself for its campaign, is now available online.
 
Anita Dongre has flagship stores across India, as well as two in New York.

Both the Indian and U.S. governments have asked their respective citizens to socially isolate where possible, but neither government have as yet ordered stores to close as of Wednesday.

Malls in some areas of India including Haryana and Tamil Nadu have shut for the month and, as the virus continues to spread, more measures could be taken soon.
