Ancestry opens first store in Kolkata

Future Style Lab’s brand Ancestry, as part of its ongoing expansion plans, has opened its first store in the city of Kolkata.

The new store is located at South City Mall and will house a variety of dresses, kurtas, blouses, accessories home furnishings, and other lifestyle products from the brand.

Ancestry launched in the market in May this year with its first store in New Delhi and has been expanding since then in the capital and NCR region. After Kolkata, Ancestry is also planning to expand in other metros like Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and others in the coming months.

Commenting on the new store launch, Manjula Tiwari, CEO at Future Style Lab, the parent company of Ancestry, in a statement said, “Ancestry provides an unparalleled, modern-day experience of old-style Indian artistries, and we’re sure that the brand’s offering will find much love and appreciation with our consumers in Kolkata. We’re truly excited about launching this store, and are thankful to South City Mall for providing us with space and opportunity, right in the heart of Kolkata.”

Ancestry has been adding one store every month since its launch to cash in on the booming ethnic wear market in India which is estimated to reach Rs 126,506 crore (approx $19 billion) by 2019.

Future Style Lab was launched by Future Group in 2016 and its design studio is based in London, UK. The business also runs the clothing brand, Cover Story.
