On December 14, womenswear brand Anavila will hold a 'Dress your Busa' tea party in Mumbai to promote the culture of saree draping, diverse beauty standards, and engage children with the brand.

Anavila will welcome children aged four to 10 at its flagship store in Mumbai on December 14, the brand announced on Facebook. The 'Dress your Busa' interactive event will teach children, both girls and boys, how to drape a saree using its signature 'Busa' doll, which comes in a number of skin tones designed to promote an inclusive definition of beauty.

“Just like tying a shoe-lace or braiding hair, draping a sari can be taught easily,” wrote Anavila on Facebook. “We want to encourage more and more young minds on the importance of our heritage.”

“In a heavily westernised world of play things, are our kids being subconsciously impacted by European standards of beauty at a very early age?” the brand asked on Facebook. “At Anavila, we are consciously aware of how everyday objects can be more mindful and toys are an important part of it.”

The brand also recently released a collection of indigo-dyed linen jamdani sarees.

Anavila has become known for its linen sarees, which founder Anavila Mishra pioneered with the launch of the brand in 2012. The brand also recently attended an event for the Digital Women’s Awards, which recognised a number of women for their contribution to working towards gender equality.
