For its upcoming summer/resort collection, Anavila will journey to Vietnam and showcase a range of hand-dyed and hand-embroidered garments mixing the country’s culture with that of its own.

“The SS19 collection draws inspiration from local women of the culturally rich and diverse Sa Pa tribes of Vietnam,” wrote the brand for LFW’s social media. “The juxtaposition of techniques like pleating, cording, embroidery and hand batik along with comfort and functional layering are strong features of the collection. The collection uses natural yarns such as cotton, linen and silk and 100% natural dyes, with textiles made in West Bengal, Bhuj and Sa Pa.”

Anavila Misra launched her eponymous brand aiming to produce sustainable fashion. Over the past eight years Misra has worked directly with artisans to create her garments and has diversified product offerings to include children’s wear and even children’s toys last year.

Lakmé Fashion Week will take place at Mumbai’s Jio Garden from January 30 to February 3 in association with Nexa. The fashion week’s sponsors include Tencell, INIFD, Voot, Corcal, and Reebok
