Anavila donates masks to local postal workers in Mumbai

Sustainable fashion brand Anavila has produced and donated face masks to the Post Master General of Mumbai to be worn by local postmen and women in the city.

 
Anavila’s founder and designer Anavila Misra delivered her first batch of 200 face masks to her local post office in Khar, Mumbai on June 26, the brand announced in a press release. The designer plans to continue to produce non-surgical face masks and donate them to postal workers.
 
“We have been using the Indian postal service since the very beginning to deliver our fabrics and receive work from remote clusters of India,” said Misra in her brand’s press release. “They have been an integral part of our brand and it’s humbling to be of some service to the frontline warriors of Indian postal service who have shown utmost commitment towards the Nation and its people during these difficult times.”

Anavila’s masks are fabricated from linen, which is Anavila’s signature textile, and include an inner layer of mulmul. The washable and reusable masks also feature cotton coverings for the elastic straps for comfort. 
 
The Indian postal service has been delivering medical equipment, personal protective equipment, and pensions for the elderly during the pan-India lockdown, the Postmaster-General for Mumbai, Swati Pandey said, according to Anavila’s press release.
 
Anavila Misra launched Anavila in 2012 and the brand has become known for its linen sarees. The brand has a flagship store in Mumbai, studio store in Gurugram, a presence in multi-brand boutiques, and an e-commerce store.
