Anamika Khanna plans Mumbai flagship, menswear and accessories lines
Designer Anamika Khanna plans to open a flagship store in Mumbai this year as well as launch a menswear and accessories line.
“We have a lot planned including a flagship in Mumbai, menswear (it was about time and with two boys on board, the next step) and an accessories line,” Khanna told Vogue India about her plans for 2019. “I am just so excited for the opportunities that are coming my way.”
This year, Khanna brought her twin sons Vishesh and Viraj Khanna on board at her brand after they graduated from university. Khanna shared that this brought a youthful and more experimental energy to the brand.
Khanna launched her latest collection, AK-OK, on March 20 on Instagram. Choosing to launch on social media fit with the new, youthful aesthetic she has embraced for the collection, a departure from much of her previous, more traditional designs. “It’s been the most fun collection I’ve done to date,” said Khanna.
The collection has a colour palate of white, black, and bright hues and features fabric with AK-OK printed in different sized fonts, bringing to mind a newspaper. Printed and sheer kimono-esque jackets, long parachute-style skirts, and drop tops feature as well as traditional wear elements like lehengas.
