Direct selling major Amway India is banking on online sales for growth amidst the coronavirus pandemic and expects it contribute around 85 percent to the company’s overall sales going forward.
The company has seen a surge in online sales during the lockdown period and confident of the trend to continue in the future. Pre-Covid online sales contributed around 33 percent to the company’s revenue.
Amway has witnessed a spike in the immunity, personal hygiene, and home care categories due to which it has ramped up the production of these products to meet the growing demand.
“We expect online sales will continue to contribute 80-85 percent to the overall sales. Due to the spurt in demand for certain product categories like immunity, hygiene, and health, we hope to achieve 80-90 percent level of business of pre-lockdown by July 2020," Amway India’s CEO, Anshu Budhraja, told PTI.
“Pre-empting rise in demand of immunity and hygiene products, Amway is gearing up to increase the production of these SKUs by four times in the coming months and maintain the product availability at 95 percent,” Budhraja added.
Amway India had reported sales of Rs 1,800 crore ($254 million) for the last financial year. It is aiming to reach sales of Rs 2,000 crore for this financial year.
