Designer Amit Aggarwal used the Diwali festival to showcase his sustainable fashion initiative by holding a unique rangoli-making event at his design headquarters in New Delhi.

On October 18, Aggarwal chose to spend the last workday before the main Diwali holiday mixing his sustainable fashion philosophy with traditional festive celebrations. Aggarwal and his team work to create ethical fashion designs and they channelled this sentiment when making festive rangolis for Diwali.

Aggarwal and his team decided to use waste materials from the workshop to make the rangolis and used leftover fabric, polymer strips, sequin waste, unused doll eyes, and plastic flowers among other materials. These materials would have otherwise been thrown away but they were given new life and added to the design house’s festive celebrations in a unique and colourful way.

Amit Aggarwal’s eponymous couture house is based in New Delhi where the brand’s flagship store resides. Aggarwal recently showed at Mumbai’s Lakmé Fashion Week and his designs are also available on a number of e-commerce sites including Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop.
