Inspired by the three elements of earth, water, and air, Amit Aggarwal presented conceptual couture collection ‘Metanoia’ on day three of India Couture Week with a thought provoking fashion film.

Amit Aggarwal's latest couture collection pushed the boundaries of form and fluidity - Amit Aggarwal

“Are you alive? Can you breathe? Can you touch me? Do you feel anything? If you can, you and I, we are the same,” began the narration to Amit Aggarwal’s fashion film for his latest couture collection. Models traversed a barren, yet majestic landscape in sculptural creations representing exotic flowers or delicate sea anemones as the designer pondered the concepts of freedom and spirituality.

Aggarwal’s collection features 35 unique styles and silhouettes with a colour palette ranging from moss, sage, forest green, roseate, azalea, lisianthus, taffy, mulberry, and fuchsia to eggplant and indigo, the brand announced in a press release. Materials including glass fibre, raffia palm, and optic fibre were used to create solid structures which were contrasted with light, sheer fabrics to explore the interplay of form and fluidity.

The designer explored the technique of hand painting a marbling pattern over discarded PVC and handwoven polymer as well as over silks and tulle. 3D hand-embroidered thread work and metallic cording also added subtle texture to the collection’s lehengas, gowns, sarees, and capes.

India Couture Week’s second digital edition runs until August 29 on the Fashion Design Council of India’s website and social media platforms. The online fashion week features a total of 19 designers and brands.
