Ambience Mall faces CBI probe, Haryana government ordered to provide assistance to investigation

Ambience Mall is currently under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation. On Monday, the Punjab and Haryana high court ordered the Haryana Government to provide all assistance to the CBI to trace witnesses and documents.

 The CBI is currently undertaking an investigation into the alleged illegal conversion of around 19 acres of land designed for the Ambience Lagoon Island residential complex in Gurugram into a commercial complex, TNN reported. The CBI is currently looking for evidence in the 28-year-old case. 
 
The Haryana and Punjab high court has granted the premier agency two months to conduct the probe into Ambience Mall and requested a status report on the matter on March 22, 2021. On that date, the court will hold a further hearing and address the status report. 

Following a high court ruling in July last year, the CBI registered a case against Ambience Group promoter, Raj Sing Gehlot; Ambience Ltd; Ambience Developers and Infrastructure Pvt Ltd; officials at the town and country planning department of Haryana; and a number of private individuals. 
 
Ambience Mall houses an array of Indian and international apparel brands including Anita Dongre, And, Miniso, Adidas, Carat Lane, Dune, Forever 21, Indya, Zara, The Collective, and Vero Moda, among others. The mall’s most recent clothing store launch was for Japanese apparel brand, Uniqlo.
