The live shopping feature sees media personalities hold livestreams online where they showcase and try out products. Viewers of the livestream can purchase these goods in real time and they are often offered exclusive discounts.

With the new Amazon Live feature, the business will run 15 livestreams each day between 10am and 1am. The business’ ongoing Amazon Great Indian Festival includes over 150 content creators who are streaming for the business. Product categories which are currently featuring in Amazon livestreams include fashion, beauty, home decor, and electronics among others.

“Through Amazon Live, Amazon India aims to connect the influencers with customers at scale, enabling them to make informed purchases,” said Amazon India’s director of customer experience and marketing Kishore Thota, Indo-Asian News Service reported.

Live shopping is designed to offer a more inclusive retail experience as livestreams are broadcast in regional languages. Most regional language customers are from Tier 2 cities and beyond, according to the business, and Amazon aims to reach them through live shopping.
