The new delivery station spread across an area of 24,000 square feet is Amazon’s biggest station in the state and expected to expedite deliveries.

Apart from launching a new delivery station, the company has also expanded its existing delivery networks in Namakkal, Tiruchengode, Sivakasi, Krishnagiri, and Tiruvallur.

“The initiative was in line with the company's vision of making e-commerce part of everyday life. This expansion will further create thousands of work opportunities for individuals in Tamil Nadu as we continue to remain committed to our long term investments", Prakash Rochlani, last mile transportation director at Amazon India said in a statement.

"With this expansion, Amazon.in will have more than 120 owned and delivery service partner stations and more than 1,400 'I Have Space' partners across the state. The delivery network growth would enable Amazon to penetrate further into smaller towns and have a direct delivery presence in more than 1,200 pin codes across Tamil Nadu," he added.

Amazon India currently has six fulfilment centres, and 32,000 sellers in the state. The company recently launched its biggest campus in the world in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad, underscoring its expansion plans in the country.
