Amazon losses narrow to Rs 3,649 crore in FY22

Amazon Seller Services, which runs the Amazon India marketplace narrowed its losses to Rs 3,649 crore ($460.4 million) for the financial year 2022, as against losses of Rs 4,748 crore it reported in the previous fiscal year.

The company reported a 32% rise in revenue to Rs 21,633 crore from Rs 16,378 crore it reported in the last financial year.

The unit’s expenses rose nearly 19% to Rs 23,120 crore with delivery cost rising to Rs 6,751 crore as compared to Rs 6,332 crore in FY21.

The company earned Rs 4,171 crore from advertising services compared to Rs 2,554 crore a year ago.

Amazon Seller Services operates a marketplace on which it sells products both online in India and internationally.

It generates revenue from multiple sources, including fees for offering its marketplace to sellers and services such as shipping, advertising, and others.

Amazon’s other units operating in India include Amazon Internet Services, Amazon Transportation Services, Amazon Data Services and Amazon Pay (India).
