Amazon is currently on the lookout for land parcels measuring around two million square feet in North Bengaluru to expand its India operations, TNN reported citing anonymous sources. North Bengaluru is home to some of the city’s cheapest rental spaces and is seen as an up-and-coming area.

The business is also looking for areas with the potential to further expand its leased area in the future to potentially double it to around four million square feet. Amazon has sent representatives to meet with builders Embassy and Bhartiya City. However, the business could take around five months to finalise a location for its offices, according to TNN’s sources.

The business is currently investing globally in technology to ameliorate its logistics capabilities. In India, it is competing with Walmart-owned Flipkart for the top spot in the e-commerce market.

The US business’ Hyderabad campus is currently its only company-owned campus outside of the US and it launched fully last year. The campus measures over 1.8 million square feet and has a capacity for 15,000 employees.
