Amazon invests over Rs 2,500 crore into Indian businesses

Amazon has pumped in over Rs 2,500 crore ($350.5 million) into two of its Indian businesses, Amazon Seller Services, and Amazon Data Services India.
 

The board of Amazon Seller Services has allotted shares worth about Rs 2,208 crore to Amazon Corporate Holdings and Amazon.com Inc, while Amazon Data Services India shares worth Rs 355 crore have been allotted to A100 ROW Inc and Amazon.com Inc.
 
In January, Amazon had invested over Rs 1,700 crore into its payments and wholesale business units in India.

India is among the last frontiers for Amazon and is a crucial market for growth. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, during his recent visit to India, has said that the company would invest $1 billion to bring small businesses online in the country, adding to the $5.5 billion the company had committed since 2014.
 
The business has also recently promised to create one million new jobs in India through investments in infrastructure, technology, and logistics.
