The vaccination process took around three weeks and now the company plans to extend the vaccination drive to new cities and towns to cover more workforce over the coming weeks.

Amazon is also offering special incentives up to Rs 750 ($10) to its employees who choose to get vaccinated.

Commenting on the initiative, Abhinav Singh director of Amazon Transportation Services, in a statement said: “In line with our efforts to ensure the health and safety of our teams, we have made vaccination a ready choice for all of our employees, partners, sellers, and their dependents. This also ties back to our commitment towards the safety of our people, customers, and the communities we operate in.”

“It is also offering Covid-19 specific benefits and support systems to frontline workers and their eligible dependents including salary advance, Covid-19 special leave, and isolation facility support, etc,” Singh added.

To help India fight the devastating second wave of Covid-19, Amazon had earlier announced that it will donate 100 ICU ventilator units to the Indian government for use in hospitals across the country and airlift them to India from the U.S.
