The business plans to roll out its Hindi voice shopping services in the coming weeks, it said in a statement on Monday. Amazon India also now offers its e-commerce services in English, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, and Bengali, developed with expert linguists, to enable shoppers from across the country to browse and purchase from its multi-brand selection, it said.

“These launches break the language barrier and make e-commerce more accessible and convenient for millions of customers across India,” said Amazon India in a statement, the Press Trust of India reported.

Amazon previously launched voice shopping services in India in English in 2020. The service is designed to ameliorate user experience while shopping online and enable people who do not read or see to avail Amazon India’s e-commerce features more easily.

“Our aim with regional language shopping experience is to make e-commerce accessible, relevant and convenient for customers,” said Amazon India’s director of customer experience and marketing, Kishore Thota, the Press Trust of India reported.

“Every month, tens of millions of customers visit Amazon.in in regional languages and 90% of the customers are from tier II and below cities... We will continue to focus on bringing new features for our customers on voice to make their shopping experience exciting and fulfilling.”
