Amazon India sees fashion become top category for customer acquisitions, fourth largest global market for Amazon Fashion
Amazon India has seen is fashion category overtake electronics as the largest driver for customer acquisitions, while Amazon India’s fashion segment is now the fourth largest business for Amazon Fashion global.
“We exited 2017 as the single largest fashion destination to become the fastest growing online fashion marketplace in the country,” business head of Amazon Fashion India Arun Sirdeshmukh told The Hindu BusinessLine. “Through 2018 till now — with indicators such as site traffic, business with brands, new customer acquisitions and third party traffic monitoring sources — Amazon Fashion continues to be the single largest fashion destination and the fastest growing online fashion marketplace in the country. We have grown to become one of the top four largest businesses of Amazon Fashion worldwide.”
Amazon India’s fashion category now follows the US, Europe, and Japan as fourth largest global fashion market for Amazon. The fashion category was launched on Amazon India five years ago so this is swift progress for the sector.
The business expects to acquire around five lakh new fashion customers during its Wardrobe Refresh Sale from June 19 to 23, Sirdeshmukh added. Amazon India is also continuing to add private label fashion brands to its current total of 55 including “made by Amazon” and “made for Amazon” labels. Last month, the business launched the children’s wear brand Jam & Honey and the women’s ethnic wear brand Tavasya.
