Amazon India’s fashion category witnesses record sales during festive sale
Amazon India has said that fashion was the biggest category in terms of units sold during its recently concluded five-day sale event the ‘Great Indian Festival’.
Fashion was also the biggest category in terms of customer acquisitions and performed exceedingly well in tier 2, tier 3 cities with 63 percent orders coming from these places.
The fashion category jumped by 2.2 times this year compared to the Great Indian Festival last year. Apparel was the largest category on Amazon Fashion with more than double the sales of last year.
“We have received an overwhelming response to the 5th Great Indian Festival, with sales in the first 36 hours nearly surpassing entire first wave last year and the event exceeding our most aggressive plans across all categories. With [three times the] surge in Prime member signups across the country, and more than 80% of new customers coming from small towns, we are humbled that Amazon.in is trusted by India,” in a statement said Amit Agarwal, the head of Amazon India.
Some of the brands that clocked extraordinary growth over normal business during the sale were W for Woman, Bata, Clarks, Pepe Jeans, Casio, Puma, Titan, and Shoppers Stop brands.
