Amazon India reduces seller fees to bring businesses online this festive season

As Amazon India prepares to launch its promotions for the upcoming festive season, India’s most important sale season of the year, the business is amping up operations to bring more small businesses online, ET Bureau reported. The business has launched a new promotion to offer sellers a 50% waiver on seller fees across all categories if they register on the e-commerce platform before October 26 and launch their business on the platform within 90 days of registration.

“This festive season our focus continues to be on sellers potentially maximising their success while endeavouring to provide our customers unmatched value and the convenience of shopping from anywhere, anytime,” said Amazon India’s director of fulfilment channels Vivek Somareddy, ET Online reported. 
 
“We have over a million sellers from India who will have the opportunity to showcase their products to customers across the country during the festive season,” said Somareddy. “We hope that this festive season will bring growth and success to all our sellers and that we continue to offer our customers the widest selection, convenience, and fast delivery for them to look forward to celebrating this festive season from the comfort and safety of their homes.”

Amazon India’s seller fees are paid by all sellers on the platform in return for the services it provides. Fees are calculated as a percentage of the total sales price paid by the buyer. 
 
The business has been focusing on bringing small stores online through programmes such as its ‘Local Shops on Amazon’ initiative which is designed to give neighbourhood stores in numerous Indian states the opportunity to integrate their offline services and retail online. Amazon India has also run numerous initiatives to bring craftspeople including weavers and artisans online, with the aim of boosting exports.
