Despite the fact that Amazon has been operating in India for five years now, Bezos said in his letter that it is still “day one” for Amazon India, promising much more to come. Bezos also described Amazon India as the country’s “most visited” e-commerce site and said that 100 percent of serviceable postcodes in India have placed orders with Amazon.

On June 6, the business’ five year India anniversary date, Bezos has personally offered shoppers cashback deals on purchases over Rs 1,000 to promote the new Amazon Pay service. The business is also celebrating with posts across its social media platforms.

Bezos assured that new things are on the horizon for India including a "dozen new Prime Original series." Amazon is currently expanding the reach of its Prime services in India.

Commenting on Amazon’s Alexa, Bezos mentioned that, since launching in India late last year, it has picked up 15,000 new skills. Highlighting other India-specific initiatives, Bezos reiterated his business’ commitment to India moving forward.

After the Walmart Flipkart acquisition deal is expected to be finalised by the end of the year, the two largest e-commerce sites in India, Amazon and Flipkart, will both be owned by American companies and their battle for the top spot is sure to continue.
