Amazon and the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry have joined forces with the aim of bringing Telangana’s micro, small, and medium enterprises online to boost business.

MSMEs in Telangana cover a range of industries from textiles and clothing to food and homeware

On May 9, Amazon and the FTCCI signed a memorandum of understanding to introduce e-commerce and promote its adoption among MSME members of the FTCCI, ET Bureau reported. The MoU is designed to bring more MSMEs online and give them the tools to increase sales through e-commerce.

“I am glad that FTCCI, with Amazon, is helping the MSME sector in the state use technology in marketing and selling their products and services,” said Telangana’s IT and industries principal secretary Jayesh Ranjan on Monday, TNN reported. “E-commerce also played a major role in streamlining business processes right from receiving a product order, to managing deliveries, keeping a track of stock and even analysing consumer feedback and data.”

The initiative will launch with a group of around 500 MSMEs in Nizamabad, Telangana. The longer term aim is for the initiative to cover all Telangana districts and the 2.6 million MSMEs within them.

“It would be prudent to help fast-track India’s e-commerce sector and the onboarding of MSMEs, which account for an estimated 30% of India’s gross domestic product and constitute more than 40% of exports,” said Ranjan.
