Amazon India aims to increase its Prime service membership in the country in 2023. The e-commerce giant sees expanding Prime membership as one of the main keys to longterm success in India.

Amazon India aims to bring more sellers online with reduced fees and boost Prime membership amongst its customers

“I am excited about the adoption of Prime in India- it continues to bring new customers to Amazon for shopping and entertainment,” Amazon India’s country manager for consumer business Manish Tiwary told India Retailing Bureau. “From my perspective, the three important levers for our long-term success are more customers, more Prime sign-ups, and more sellers. The good news- we are excelling on all these counts.”

Amazon India currently counts over 11 lakh sellers on its platform and plans to continue to onboard sellers from across the country. The year 2022 also saw Amazon expand its same-day swift delivery (within hours) options from 14 cities to 50. Fashion and beauty continue to represent areas of swift growth for Amazon India, along with smartwatches and electronics categories.

“Amazon has an innovator’s DNA and that holds us in good stead while building for Bharat,” said Tiwary. “Already, 85% of new customer orders and 65% of all orders come from Tier II and III cities and towns. Our focus on serving customers and sellers has brought us this far and will continue to drive us ahead. Customer obsession is one of our key leadership principles and every Amazonian is encouraged to think and innovate on behalf of customers.”
