E-commerce firms are betting big on the booming kidswear segment for the overall growth of its fashion verticals and partnering exclusively with leading brands to expand its portfolio.

The kidswear market in India is currently estimated to be around $8.3 billion and is further expected to grow at 22 percent by 2023 according to a study by research firm Technopak.

Kidswear brands are also happy going online on sites like Amazon to widen their customers rather than investing on setting up physical outlets.

Amazon alone has a brand portfolio of around 300 kid wear brands and 900 sellers catering exclusively to this segment. The e-commerce major has international brands like Mothercare, Marks & Spencer, Gini Jony, GAP amongst many others.

“We have witnessed 80 percent growth in kidswear for the year 2017. Interestingly, baby shoes store which was launched with an aim to address footwear necessities of babies in the age group of 0 to 2 years has seen a tremendous growth of close to 90% year-on-year in 2017. Mothercare, United Colors of Benetton, US Polo, Gini Jony and 612 League are some of the top selling brands on our platform,” Arun Sirdeshmukh, head, Amazon Fashion said in a statement.
