On February 7, Amazon India announced its new partnership with technology business incubator NIFientreC as part of its work in line with the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ vision, ET Tech reported. With the MoU, Amazon India will create opportunities for lakhs of people across the country, empower innovators, and hold training programmes with central and state government partners, the business announced.

“With the fast-paced digital transformation that’s happening in the country right now, there could not be a better time for grassroots entrepreneurs to consider taking their innovations directly to the consumers all over India,” said the chairperson of the NIFientreC, Gulshan Rai, ET Bureau reported. “As e-commerce grows in India, we are proud to announce this partnership with Amazon to help boost the local economy by accelerating grassroots innovation and enabling the digitisation of several thousand innovators over a period of time.”

The programme will include workshops with industry experts which will focus on direct-to-customer retail and product distribution. The MoU is designed to demonstrate Amazon India’s commitment to supporting local businesses.

“At Amazon, we remain committed to our pledge of digitising 10 million MSMEs in India by 2025 and contribute to the vision of an ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” said Amazon India’s vice president Manish Tiwary. “Our partnership with NIFientreC is aimed at bringing the benefits of digitisation and e-commerce to grassroots entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs taking forward the student innovations from rural areas to sell to millions of Amazon customers in India and across the globe.”
