Amazon India launched over 200 exclusive new products on Prime Day which concluded on July 17 with the etailer witnessing a surge in prime memberships during the 36-hour-long festival.

Amazon claimed that its prime membership sales spiked in the one week leading up to Prime Day than any week since the launch of Prime in India.

“Extending Prime Day to 36 hours this year allowed us to further reward members with unbeatable deals, access to exclusive new products and unforgettable experiences that highlight the many benefits of a Prime membership. We also want to thank our sellers, brands and our content partners who helped to make Prime Day bigger and better,” Agarwal added.

Small and medium sized businesses along with Amazon Launchpad start-ups witnessed a strong growth on Prime Day. The former saw an average growth of 240 percent while the start-ups saw an average growth of six times as compared to an average day in June.

This is very encouraging for us and the artisans working with us,” said Ravi and Gunjeet Singh, Two Moustaches, one of the start-ups that launched on Prime Day.
