The initiative helped over 10 lakh artisans, weavers and women entrepreneurs to register 3.2 times and 2.1 times growth, respectively. Around 32 sellers crossed Rs 1 lakh in sales, while two sellers managed to cross Rs 1 crore in sales.

Amazon expects the sales to improve further through this initiative during the upcoming festive season.

“We are humbled by the response to this initiative as customers from more than 12,000 pin codes purchased a product from the specially-curated store front. With the festive season coming up, we remain focused on helping our sellers further accelerate and grow their business,” in a statement said Pranav Bhasin, director of seller experience at Amazon India.

“The ‘Stand for Handmade’ initiative is part of our continuous efforts to help small businesses including artisans, weavers, and women entrepreneurs to revive their business from the economic disruption caused by the pandemic,” added Bhasin.

Amazon India has invested significantly in its logistics segment and ramped up its fulfilment centres to help its sellers with storage and faster deliveries, as it gears up for the festive season, amid the Covid-19 disruptions.
