The two delivery stations opened in the towns of Kodungallur in Thrissur district and Aranmula in Pathanamthitta district, ET Bureau reported. The stations, which are operated by Amazon India’s Delivery Service Partners, will provide job opportunities for over 50 women in the region.

The launch brings Amazon’s total number of all-women delivery stations to four as it previously launched similar operations in Chennai in Tamil Nadu and Kadi in Gujarat. Amazon’s DSP programme is a last-mile delivery model which sees the business partner with small and medium sized businesses which deliver Amazon packages to customers.

The new stations will also boost Amazon India’s logistics network in the areas and enable them to reach more customers, harnessing the delivery partners’ local knowledge. Amazon has also opened delivery stations dedicated to transgender individuals, veterans, and people with hearing impairments.

“We have thousands of women who are playing important roles in our operations network and thriving in their professional lives with Amazon,” said Amazon India’s director for last mile operations, Prakash Rochlani, the Press Trust of India reported.

“The launch of these two all-women delivery stations in Kerala is an extension of our continuous efforts to provide women with safe and fulfilling opportunities and we remain steadfast in our resolve to financially uplift them.”
