As Amazon and Flipkart prepare to go head-to-head again in the upcoming festive sale season, Amazon has greatly expanded its storage and delivery capacity to be able to handle the expected influx of orders. The e-commerce business has increased its storage by 1.5 times since the same time last year to total 20 million cubic feet across India.

Moreover, the business has doubled its number of vendors with delivery trucks as well as the number of service partners operating independent delivery centres. These are on top of the 210 Amazon delivery stations spread across India.

Amazon has stated that it expects to have 1,500 trucks on the road every day to connect over 500 cities. The business has also increased its airport network by 1.5 times since this time last year and has partnered with a number of carriers. Amazon has also added ten more sorting centres for order fulfilment which takes its India total to 30 and a total order processing area of almost one million square feet.

The festive sale season will kick off on October 10 for both Amazon India and Walmart’s Flipkart. Amazon has also promised same-day-delivery for a number of cities for the sale season.

As many businesses obtain the bulk of their yearly revenue from Diwali sales, success in the upcoming season is integral to positive yearly financials.
