Amazon India increases logistics fees for sellers

Published

Amazon India has raised its logistics services fees for sellers, effective from September 1, in part due to rising petrol prices.

Amazon has revised certain seller fees for its Indian sellers

The new fee for sellers will be based on the distance of the delivery and the weight of the goods to be delivered, sellers aware of the matter told the Economic Times. The changes will also include an increase in the marketplace fee charged on certain product categories.

The past few weeks have seen increasing petrol prices across India. Although prices dropped over the last two days, they are still higher than at the same time last year.

Amazon India has increased the marketplace fee or referral fee for beauty products among other categories. Changes have also been made to ‘closing fees’ on the platform which, in some cases, have been reduced. The business had waived certain seller fees during the pandemic and, as lockdown regulations have been removed in much of India, online business is returning to normal.

“Seller fee revision is based on various factors including market dynamics, costs, seller feedback and overall customer experience and selection - ensuring sellers continue to choose Amazon as the marketplace to reach out to customers,” an Amazon India spokesperson told ET Tech.

“As part of our recent revision, we have re-structured our fee rate card to have price band-based fees in select categories.”
