E-commerce giant Amazon India has opened two new fulfilment centres in Hyderabad, Telangana with the aim of speeding up delivery times ahead of the festive season.

Amazon India has increased its investments in the state of Telangana

Expecting a significant increase in orders during the upcoming festive season, Amazon has strengthened its logistics network in the Telangana region, the Press Trust of India reported. The two new fulfilment centres bring the business’ total storage capacity in Telangana to over 4.5 million cubic feet, spread across four facilities.

The fulfilment centres will cater to Telangana and its neighbouring states and should enable sellers in the region to offer a greater selection of products, Amazon India said in a statement on September 15.

The business also recently expanded one of its existing sort centres in Telangana to over one lakh square feet.

“We are delighted to extend the partnership further with this additional investment in the state helping us deliver safely to our customers at their doorstep,” said Amazon India’s director of fulfilment centres and supply chain, Prakash Kumar Dutta, the Press Trust of India reported.

“This network expansion will help create thousands of work opportunities and will further help us support small and medium businesses in the region to fulfil their customer orders seamlessly.”
