For his new additional role, Agarwal will report to Amazon’s senior vice president of international consumer Russell Grandinetti, ET Tech reported. The vice presidents of Latin America and of Amazon Exports and Expansion and their teams will now report to Agarwal.

Following Agarwal’s new responsibilities, Amazon’s consumer business vice president Manish Tiwary will oversee daily operations at the business in India and continue to report to Agarwal who will continue as the head of Amazon’s India operations.

“This is a major step up for Amit [Agarwal],” an anonymous source at Amazon told the Economic Times. “Getting all these markets under him really adds meat to his role.”

As part of his new responsibilities, Tiwary will now also be responsible for Amazon’s business-to-business e-commerce platform focused on small and medium-sized businesses, Amazon Business. However, segments including Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Web Services will not report to Tiwary.

Amazon India is also currently working to acquire a 100% stake in its largest marketplace seller Cloudtail. The business announced its plans for the deal in December, 2021 and is awaiting regulatory approval. The business is also continuing to fight to prevent its rival Reliance Industries from acquiring Future Group
