After reaching a total of 150 “shop in shops” in a range of multi-brand retail outlets, Alcis Sports has opened their first flagship store. The brand chose the Lulu Mall in Kochi as their first flagship location due to the metro’s reputation as a centre of sports. The store was inaugurated on December 17 and is now open to the public to shop in the run up to Christmas.

Anuj Batra, the President of Alcis Sports, said about the new opening: “This is the first store of Alcis which has opened at Lulu Mall, Kochi. It is spread across 1,083 square feet of carpet area and houses both the men and women sports and active wear.” The brand is also the exclusive licensee for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia official merchandise and this collection will also be available in their new store. “The total cost for fit-out and everything came out to Rs 50 lakh but moving forward as we are now equipped, we are looking forward to take it down to Rs 3,000 [per] square foot and the store size in future is going to be anywhere between 700-1,000 square feet,” said Batra.

The brand has ambitious expansion plans for 2018 and has 15 more flagship stores planned. “We are opening the second store of the brand on December 28, 2017 at Phoenix Mall in Mumbai,” said Batra. “Moving forward we are looking at 15 more EBOs [exclusive business outlets] by December 2018. These all will be company-owned and company-managed stores. We are getting proposals for franchisee outlets also and soon we will be venturing into the same,” said Batra.
