In the last ten years, Converse has worked with major fashion names such as Missoni, Comme des Garçons and Maison Margiela for its premium sneaker range. Now that the US footwear brand founded by Marquis Mills Converse is about to celebrate its one hundredth anniversary, another big fashion name is going to be added to the list, according to Japanese media.

The first models of a premium line, designed by Alber Elbaz and labelled 'Avant Converse', are in fact expected to reach high-end Japanese stores next March. For the time being however, Converse has disclosed nothing about the line or about its international launch.

Alber Elbaz left Parisian fashion label Lanvin, of which he was the creative director, in October 2015. Since then he has been earmarked for taking charge of design at several labels, and has also been in demand for collaborations, having worked for example on a fragrance with Frédéric Malle.
